Jeronimo Reyes-Retana

Jeronimo Reyes-Retana’s current work emerged from his relationship to print media and photography, specifically the point at which these combine – silkscreening and collage. Following an organic mutation on his artistic process, he was drawn to materials that are imbued with meaning and semantic references, making sculpture and installation his preferred media. A multidisciplinary artist, he has persuaded digital media to create art objects that thrive between virtuality and reality, in which technology is not taken as given, but as something whose mechanisms are analyzed. He also has been part of the electronic music scene, creating experimental projects that respond to audio-visual interest based on synchrony to create a perceptual experience. He currently is an MFA candidate at the University of Texas at Austin, and received the FONCA-CONACYT study-abroad fellowship from the Mexican government. His work has been shown in Mexico City, New York City, Los Angeles, Venice and Bogotá.
