LETICIA ARROYO TIEMPO PRESENTE, 1981
Leticia Arroyo Ortiz (b. Mexico City, 1938) is an interdisciplinary artist. Her practice includes painting, drawing, engraving, tapestry, embroidery applying natural dyes; always experimenting and investigating. She has accompanied her artistic practice along with teaching in several institutions for the last 40 years. She is also the author of the book `Tintes naturales mexicanos´, winner of the Premio Conabio and Premio Caniem. Arroyo completed her undergraduate studies in Painting at the National School of Plastic Arts (ENAP), today the Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD), of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), between 1957 and 1962. After completing these degrees, she studied textiles and mural painting at the School of Plastic Arts “Nicolae Grigorescu”, in Bucharest, Romania. Later, in 1996, she obtained a Master’s degree in Visual Arts (Sculpture) at ENAP, and, in 2005, she obtained the title of University Specialist in Visual Arts (Production, Management, and Restoration), awarded by the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. Leticia has participated in 35 individual exhibitions and 137 group exhibitions.
