MARIE LUND Grip 2, 2018
Marie Lund (b. Copenhagen, 1976) is an artist who lives and works in London. Her sculptural praxis is concerned with the inherent qualities in materials and the way these behave when exposed to external intentions and pressure. She is interested in how the shaping of an object can be thought of as stretching from the process of making, through the meeting with the viewer and space, to the weathering of the material over time. Her works often place themselves between image and solid objects, alternating the imprint and memory of missing objects in the painting, photography, and sculpture. Thus, Lund’s work constantly rethinks not only the idea of the object but also that of space and the experiences that possibly surround it. Recent solo exhibitions include Legumes at Holstebro Kunstmuseum, Scout at joségarcía, mx, Mérida, PIT at Croy Nielsen, Berlin, Flush at Badischer Kunstverein, Dip at Laura Bartlett, Drums, Museo Marino Marini.
