Su Wu, Me Petate, MESOAMERICAN MODERN

Current EXHIBITION

08.10.2026 - 05.11.2026

The worldwide launch of MESOAMERICAN MODERN, by Su Wu and photographed by Luis Garvan with a foreword by Elena Reygadas, published by Phaidon Press. The book is the first to look at the ancient ideas and techniques inspiring today’s forward-thinking interior design, and celebrates the vibrant, living presence of Mesoamerican principles in contemporary design of the Americas – in gestures that reflect at once the traditional and unexpected, of the past in the future, and what is possible in a home.

The book launch will be accompanied by a special installation organized by craft organization New Vernacular, of woven palm and grass objects inspired by the people and spaces in Mexico whose ideas give the bookits substance. The exhibition “Me Petateé” features more than 20 new petates woven in collaboration communities across Mexico, drawing on ideas offered by the architects and designers in MESOAMERICAN MODERN.

MESOAMERICAN MODERN will be released worldwide on Oct 28. Advance copies will be available at MASA.

“Me Petateé” will remain on view to Nov 6, 2026.
